Dr. Geneva is a queer Latinx licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience. Dr. Geneva provides trauma-informed relational and depth-oriented (psychodynamic, intersubjectivity) individual and couples/polycule therapy to adults within an abolitionist framework. Other theoretical perspectives that influence her work include the neurobiology of attachment, mujerista and QTPOC psychology. She also provides clinical consultations, mentoring for professionals of color, and supervision for unlicensed mental health professionals related to her areas of expertise.
Dr. Geneva specializes in working with BIPOC (Black/Indigenous/People of Color), LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive clients. Her work is sex positive and poly- and kink friendly. Areas of focus for treatment center around anxiety, traumatic experiences, body positivity, identity-related concerns and spirituality (including difficulties with belief systems and recovery from conversion therapy). Dr. Geneva is informed by a cosmic understanding of the world congruent with the indigenous lineages of her ancestors. She studies belief systems of various spiritual traditions in her free time and is interested in the ways we attempt to make meaning of our world. Dr. Geneva works with clients from a variety of religious backgrounds, including atheists and people who have experienced religiously-based abuse and trauma.
