By us, for us
Our calling is to work collaboratively to promote mental health in BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and other historically disenfranchised communities. We agree that this work must be systemic to truly be of benefit.
We recognize the legacy of white supremacy that dominates mental health training and service delivery and actively work to dismantle it.
This includes engaging in our own work individually and collectively, recognizing the complexity of disentangling ourselves from the long-standing effects of hierarchy-based paradigms.
Our goal is to provide culturally relevant, trauma-informed, HIPAA-compliant, virtual mental health services in all jurisdictions of the land currently known as the United States as well as social justice based, decolonizing, depth-oriented training and clinical supervision for emerging mental health professionals.
We are formally educated and licensed by state regulatory agencies to deliver mental health services, so that is what we offer. However, we recognize multiple pathways to wellbeing and welcome collaboration with traditional healers, peer educators, activists, and any other organization or community member with shared values.
Our name was inspired by borderlands theory as initially imagined in Borderlands/La Frontera by Gloria Anzaldua and that continues to live on through various indigenous, anticolonial resistance thinkers, doers and dreamers
